Savannah has a new spot for tacos, tequila, and good times. Bubba Garcia’s, a longtime favorite from St. Simons Island, officially opened its doors on Monday at 7 E Bay Street, taking over the former Tondee’s Tavern space.

For over 20 years, Bubba Garcia’s has been a go-to in the Golden Isles, known for its laid-back atmosphere, bold flavors, and what the owners call a “rednexican” take on Mexican food. Now, they’ve expanded into Savannah, bringing their signature tacos, burritos, wings, and tequila-filled cocktails downtown.

The space has been completely refreshed, with bright colors, new lighting, and an updated downstairs area that could serve as an event space in the future. For now, Bubba Garcia’s is operating with a limited menu during St. Patrick’s week, with plans to roll out the full lineup—including more tacos, burritos, and wings—soon after the holiday.

Bubba Garcia’s is open daily starting at 11 a.m. Whether you’re stopping in for lunch, catching a game at the bar, or unwinding with a margarita, it’s another solid addition to Savannah’s growing food scene.
