Orange Crush is officially back on Tybee Island next weekend, running from Friday, April 18 to Sunday, April 20. The massive spring break event—which drew an estimated 40,000–50,000 people last year—remains one of the most talked-about gatherings of the year for Savannah and Tybee locals.
Tybee officials conditionally approved the event earlier this year, with the understanding that organizers would meet certain requirements, including traffic plans, permits, and a post-event beach cleanup. Last year’s event saw more structure and cooperation than previous years, and city leaders have said they’re hopeful that trend continues.
Saturday is the main festival day on Tybee, featuring DJs, performances, and an HBCU step show competition from 1 to 8 p.m., followed by a scheduled beach cleanup. Afterparties and other events are scattered throughout the weekend, mostly in Savannah and nearby Hardeeville.
While not everyone is thrilled—especially business owners caught off guard by street closures—many acknowledge it’s become a recurring part of spring in the area. Whether you’re avoiding the traffic or planning to check it out, it’s worth keeping on your radar.
