Tybee Island officials have taken a major step toward allowing Orange Crush 2025, issuing a conditional letter of approval for the spring break beach event. This means the event is tentatively approved—but only if organizers agree to meet the city’s set conditions.
Orange Crush, which drew an estimated 40,000–50,000 attendees in 2024, has long been a topic of debate among locals. In the past, city officials have expressed concerns over security, parking, and trash, with previous versions of the event operating without proper permits. However, last year’s gathering was more organized, leading some to believe that a structured, permitted event could work in 2025.
The proposed event is scheduled for April 17–21 and would feature two beach stages, enhanced traffic control measures, and a cleanup plan aimed at reducing the environmental impact on Tybee’s beaches.
Tybee Mayor Brian West acknowledged that while previous years have been difficult, 2024 was an improvement. “Last year’s bash went well,” West said, adding that he hopes Tybee and Orange Crush organizers can find ways to work together in 2025.
The community remains divided—some residents worry the event still brings more disruption than benefits, while others believe better management and communication with organizers could make it a success.
What do you think? Should Tybee continue working with organizers to structure the event properly, or is Orange Crush still too big for the island to handle?
