Wawa has officially opened its doors in Pooler, bringing the popular convenience chain to Chatham County for the first time. The Pennsylvania-based convenience store with a devoted fanbase held its grand opening last Thursday at 1480 Pooler Parkway, bringing hoagies, coffee, and made-to-order meals to Chatham County for the first time.

The opening came with plenty of fanfare, including a ribbon cutting, community donations, and a “Hoagies for Heroes” sandwich-making competition. For those from up north—or anyone who’s spent time in Wawa territory—this was a big moment. One Pooler resident who moved from Philadelphia said having a Wawa nearby is like having a “community hub,” not just another gas station.

This new Pooler store is part of a much larger plan. Wawa says it will open 5–6 more Georgia locations this year, with 26+ total stores expected across the state within the next few years. Each location is a major investment, with around $7.5 million going into construction and about 35 local employees hired per store.

For newcomers: Wawa’s appeal lies in its mix of quick service, solid food, and efficient convenience. Think made-to-order hoagies, customizable coffee and drink stations, snacks, and essentials—all in a clean, modern setup.
