Auspicious Baking Company’s Sandfly location is officially back open, now with more seating and a full coffee program in partnership with Perc Coffee. After a short closure for remodeling, the bakery has returned with a refreshed setup, offering the same beloved pastries and breads—now with the added bonus of freshly brewed espresso drinks and more space to sit and enjoy them. The update brings a long-awaited expansion to one of Savannah’s most popular bakeries, giving customers a more comfortable place to linger over a warm croissant and a latte.
The temporary closure allowed the team to rework the space and get new equipment in place, all while keeping up with their biggest project yet—their second location on Whitemarsh Island. That expansion has been in the works for a while, taking over the old Paula Deen Creek House spot at 104 Bryan Woods Rd. Unlike Sandfly, this location will go beyond a bakery, offering a full sit-down dining experience and retail space. All inspections have been passed, and while there’s no official opening date just yet, they’re getting closer.
Once open, the Whitemarsh location will take things a step further with a full breakfast menu, featuring sourdough-based pancakes and waffles, eggs Benedict served on their house-made English muffins, and more elevated breakfast options. Over time, they plan to expand into lunch and brunch service, giving customers more ways to enjoy their baked goods beyond the grab-and-go format they’re known for.
Auspicious has been keeping customers updated throughout the process, including a few unexpected setbacks. The snow pushed back Sandfly’s reopening by a couple of days, leaving them unable to operate for nearly a full week. It wasn’t ideal, especially in January—a naturally slow month for business—but they encouraged customers to support them through online preorders while retail was temporarily down. Now that Sandfly is fully back in action, it’s time to settle in, grab a coffee, and check out the expanded space!
With Sandfly reopened and Whitemarsh nearly ready, Auspicious is stepping into its next chapter. The wait for a larger space and more options has been a long one, but it’s finally paying off. For now, the Sandfly location is back up and running, serving warm pastries and fresh espresso. As for the new Whitemarsh location, stay tuned for the opening date!
